In pursuit of finding truly contemporary African design inspiration, we fondly look back at our August/September 2021 issue of House & Garden SA where we speak to Weylandtstudio design team Anna Weylandt and Stacey Oxley, the creative duo who reinvented this Cape coastal residence.
The client brief was to create a unique interior incorporating a bold use of colour and a variety of materials that will add visual interest and unique character to the home. In the house tour below, Stacey Oxley takes us on a tour of the property located in Green Point Cape Town.
“In terms of aesthetics, the African essence that is so signature to the Weylandts brand really appealed to our international client as it rings true to the property’s location in South Africa and it is something fresh and interesting that they have not seen overseas.
“For the interior concept and design, we drew inspiration from the natural surroundings of the property. With the Green Point lighthouse having been originally designed by a German Stonemason and with the natural landscape of Lions Head consisting of sandstone and granite it felt only natural to introduce elements of stone within the space accompanied by a palette of muted greens and greys and paired with tones of terracotta,” says Stacey.
