“It has been a 2 year journey, connecting, meeting and sharing ideas with this special group of designers and friends, and we are so proud to finally begin the store’s journey.” says co-founder Tayla Foong of experiential agency Dear Friends. Together with Adriaan Hugo and Katy Taplin from Dokter and Misses, 99 Design Store is a young designers space in Braamfontein featuring 19 local designers.
This concept store is home to some of the best local designer fashion and home decor brands on show alongside unique art pieces. The space includes collections from the design and lifestyle brand Neimil, founded by Keneilwe Mothoa and Lubabalo Mxalisa, as well as popular upcycling brand eager to take on streetwear apparel, UNKNWN Projects founded by Cebekhulu (Peace by Khotso) and Mohlokoane (Sash South Africa).
Expect to experience a space fully fitted by design-duo Dokter and Misses who were instrumental in the 99 Juta building design from start to finish. Every detail was seen to, making the space feel unified, fresh and exciting.
