South Africa is home to some breath-taking natural beauty, with outdoor venues that truly feel like you’re in another world. Kraaktafel takes a new approach to outdoor dining, installations and the world of locally sourced cuisine to provide a sumptuous event. The brainchild of [kraak], an events planning company founded by Hannes van Kraak, the long table outdoor event has expanded to a must-see seasonal occurrence.
In the team’s own words, it’s a table in the middle of nowhere where you are grounded by mother nature leaving you vulnerable and levelled which allows you to experience a pause in life. If you’ve been wanting to have a dining affair that leaves you relaxed, engaging with nature and getting to sample the best of what local has to offer, then add this to your calendar.
Kraaktafel aims to combine a beautiful outdoor location, a long table, three course meal and curated local wine pairings to create a sensory affair that feels out of this world. For example, a recent Kraaktafel was hosted in the midst of a canary-yellow canola field in Wellington, with outdoor cooking spots on location and beautiful overhead lighting as the sun began to set.
