In an exquisite fusion of artistry and craftsmanship, Veuve Clicquot unveils the 2015 vintage of La Grande Dame in collaboration with celebrated Italian ceramicist Paola Paronetto. Known for her vibrant and paper-like ceramic creations, Paronetto brings a new dimension to this prestigious cuvée with her distinctive palette and sustainable design ethos.
La Grande Dame, Veuve Clicquot’s homage to Madame Clicquot, embodies over two centuries of champagne excellence and innovation. Introduced in 1810 as the first vintage champagne by Madame Clicquot herself, it stands as a testament to her audacity and pioneering spirit in the world of champagne making.
For the 2015 vintage, Paola Paronetto crafted six bespoke gift boxes using her unique Paper Clay technique, a blend of clay and cellulose fibres, imbuing each piece with a tactile and visual richness reminiscent of corrugated card. These sustainable gift boxes, composed primarily of hemp and other recycled materials, echo Veuve Clicquot’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
"I am always seeking to balance joy and creativity through my art," explains Paola Paronetto, whose pieces have been exhibited globally in prestigious venues like Triennale Milano and IIIe Arts, New York. Her collaboration with Veuve Clicquot extends beyond packaging to include the creation of "Giganti" sculptures—colourful, standing bottle forms that symbolically interpret the oenological essence of La Grande Dame.
Jean-Marc Gallot, President and CEO of Veuve Clicquot, expresses his enthusiasm for this partnership, emphasising how Paronetto’s work embodies optimism and resonates with the Maison's dedication to excellence and Pinot Noir craftsmanship.
Launched in South Africa, La Grande Dame 2015 is now available, inviting enthusiasts to experience its verticality and structure, traits mirrored in Paronetto’s sculptural creations. This collaboration not only celebrates art and champagne but also underscores a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability.
As Veuve Clicquot continues to push boundaries with each new vintage of La Grande Dame, the partnership with Paola Paronetto marks a significant chapter, where tradition meets contemporary artistry in a toast to creativity and taste.
