Colour is the one thing that can totally transform a space so it’s no wonder that choosing a colour of the year is such a process. As you know, the Pantone colour pick is one that shapes trends and really sets the tone for a lot of upcoming trends, but it’s always interesting to see what other brands have on their radar. So far we’ve seen Dulux, Plascon, Benjamin Moore and a few others share their picks for the upcoming year. This time, popular spray paint brand Krylon has announced their choice: Spanish Moss.
As the name states, it’s inspired by nature and of course, deep earthy moss. The green shade is a quite departure from what we’ve seen so far, in terms of colour trends. As the announcements roll in, the common theme has been neutral tones with the occasional bold shade. But what seems to be a recurring message in terms of colour, is the call to reconnect or feel more in tune with the beautiful outdoors.
Krylon’s senior colour designer, Ashley Banbury explains, “This midnight green has a strong connection with the richness of nature, dense forests and mossy terrains. Rooted in the renewing power of green, it can balance with both warm and cool accents.”
Most importantly, spray-painting can be an easy DIY to do, if you’d like to experiment with other colours with little to no fuss. You can decide on an older furniture piece or flower pots that need a bit of a refresh, without compromising too much.
Be sure to keep an eye on social media for more colour trend announcements before the year is over.
