Stripping away any grandeur, US based interior design team, Melissa & Miller transformed this home into a serene Scandinavian-inspired oasis. “We opted to open up the space, establishing an expansive open-plan kitchen, breakfast room, and living area with double-height ceilings,’ explains the team.
“The inspiration for the interior design was undeniably rooted in the outdoors," continues Melissa. "We enhanced the kitchen by removing walls and installing a large window/door that opens onto their stunning garden.”
A neutral colour palette was maintained throughout the home, with brighter hues introduced through subtle touches, such as the green dining room chairs. The design emphasises relaxation with natural oak floors, cosy textures, and bespoke furnishings sourced from South African artisans.
The home showcases a harmonious blend of materials—natural oak, linens, cottons, wools, zellige tiles, porcelain in warm tones of aubergine, browns and tans, and blackened steel finishes for the kitchen hardware - enhancing its tactile appeal. Each detail, from lime washed walls to Scandinavian pendants, contributes to the home's inviting atmosphere.
As the homeowners are avid art fans, the walls of the home showcase pieces by artists like Ai Weiwei and Damien Hirst, which add depth and character to the interiors.
Craftsmanship shines through in every corner, from the double-height ceilings to the curated art collection, making this a home to remember.
